I am writing to provide feedback on the online Russian language program at the Saint Petersburg University. As the student in the program, I want to share my thoughts and experiences regarding the program.
Firstly, I would like to express my appreciation for the dedicated faculty members, especially Professor Margarita who is instrumental in teaching the language online. I have found their online teaching methods to be effective and engaging.
The online platform provided by the university is user friendly and accessible, allowing me to assess course material and resources conveniently.
I am grateful for the opportunity to study at your esteemed institution and hope that my feedback will be taken into consideration.
Thank you again.
I feel privileged to have taken Russian language lessons from Margarita (Rita). She's an exceptional teacher who embodies professionalism, dynamism and enthusiasm. Rita's passion for teaching is contagious, making every lesson engaging and enjoyable. The support she provides is unmatched, fostering a positive learning environment for everyone.
Rita uses handouts that are not only easy to follow but also tailored to enhance comprehension. Her expertise made my Russian language journey a truly enriching experience. This has grown the will within me to continue to develop my Russian language skills and I'm hoping to reach advanced levels in the near future.
l am a Zimbabwean and a proud learner of Russian language, strengthening the bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Russia.
To start with, the teacher, Маргарита to be precise, is awesome, creative, has good communication skills, punctual and has excellent teaching skills which saw her incorporating anyone from anywhere around the world. As a learner l learned major basics of the first level, A1 level. The syllabus covered much of the aspects required for A1 level within the stipulated time frame.
However, the learners need to be given the syllabus so they can at least see and read ahead.
Thank you so much for affording me the opportunity to learn and appreciate Russian language. We hope to continue up to degree level.
Уроки отличные. Я хорошо пишу по-русски. Я хорошо читаю по-русски. The professor, Сергей is audible, well understandable and willing to help where necessary. I am happy with the progress so far.
Thank you for your lessons :)
I would like to say my views regarding Russian language classes that I am currently taking. To start with am really appreciate the opportunity to learn the language. To be honest at first I thought the language is very difficult to understand...but once I started attending classes I must say they are very understandable. I normally look forward to every class and try my best not to miss out... I would also like to acknowledge our teacher Katia who is very nice and always punctual. I look forward to having more classes with her because I know have a great understanding of Russian language and Russia as a country. I am also privileged to be attending Russian webinars held by Katia and getting enlightened in many ways.
I just want to thank you for the classes. It has been beautiful from the start. I find Russian language very interesting and I am loving the classes with each passing day. I can now communicate a little in Russian anytime I meet Russian speaking people in my work.
You have made it very easy to understand even when it gets difficult. I highly recommend.
I've really enjoyed learning Russian and it's been an honour to be taught by you. Honestly I always look upon joining every class on Friday and Tuesday. It's a very good and open class. Как интересно!
You also make Russian look very easy my friends are amazed I know all of those words in a short space of time :)
First I would like to pass sincere gratitude to the RUSSIAN EMBASSY in KENYA and St Petersburg University for this noble Idea of giving us a free lesson for the русский язык.
Before I decided to Apply and join this class of studying русский язык I was certain that it would be the hardest language for me to study Until I met MY Able Teacher EKATERINA who not only simplified the learning but also made it understandable.
Also, the Idea of UNDERSTANDING RUSSIA WEBINARS is a good one but the timing is a challenge.
I would conclude that the classes are great and of best interest to both RUSSIA and me as a student since now I can unlearn the dirt that was initially painted by the Westerners about RUSSIA. (I mean with the little Russian interaction I have had Russia is a white sheep painted black by The Westerners). Now than ever I feel ready to learn and Interact more with Russia and Russians.
I've always been a Russian language lover. I wanted to learn that on YouTube channels. One day I came across a Russian language study scholarship and immediately registered. This is an opportunity for me to learn and master this wonderful language. I started learning in July month and it's an online course. It's an ideal environment for learning with excellent teachers. At first I thought learning was going to be difficult, but the more time passes the more I discover the beauty of the Russian language with the help of my great teachers to whom I pay tribute and I testify all my gratitude. It's about Madame Дарья and Анастасия. Thanks to their quality coaching I fell still in love with the Russian language has such a point that I wish to master this wonderful language like them and teach it all over the world. The pedagogy they teach with is remarkable and facilitates learning. Thanks to my teachers, I discover every day the wonders of Russia and its language that soon will be one of the most spoken languages around the world.
Today I am 5 months away from online training and I already manage to communicate and hold a conversation.
Thank you to the Russian Federation.
Thank you very much to my teachers
I love Russia.
I like Russian language.
Skills in Russian language are very important in the world. As I continue to participate in various international conferences, I often meet with colleagues who speak Russian or sometimes conference presentations significantly require some knowledge of Russian. Coming from Africa with little previous exposure to Russian language and culture you sometimes find yourself sitting through the sessions without meaningfully contributing. Alternatively, you have to wait for non-native translation which is often late and certainly not without some inaccuracies.
I quickly impressed the opportunity of learning Russian language when the announcement was made by the Embassy of Russia in Nairobi. Studying online offers good flexibility with my schedule. Importantly, the learning sessions are led by a native professional Russian language teacher and they are held in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for students. As our instructor, Maria, please accept my appreciations.
The weekly 'Understanding Russia' sessions from the rest of the team at St. Petersburg University have equally been very beneficial. I continue to work hard and hopefully I will improve my proficiency in the Russian language very soon.
Initially I started this course to enhance my grammar skills of the Russian language, but it turned out this course is so much more than just that. The teachers are intelligent, fun, helpful and kind. The students' interactions are interesting and teach us different cultures, backgrounds and you build professional relationships with fellow students. The classes, homework and teaching platforms are well structured and organised to make learning easy and understandable. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to reach the goal of understanding the Russian language and culture better, while having fun.
My name is Nolwandle Ntshiza, a South African currently enrolled in free online Russian language lessons under the tutelage of Dr. Alexei Pavlov. I am writing to express my deep appreciation for the opportunity to learn the Russian language and to bring to your attention a couple of considerations for enhancing the learning experience.
My decision to undertake Russian language lessons stems from a profound admiration for Russia, particularly for its historical support during the Apartheid era in South Africa. With aspirations of working in Russia in the future. Therefore, acquiring proficiency in the Russian language is a priority.
I am currently scheduled to attend the International Congress "Africa Seeks Solutions" from 11 to 16 December 2023, at the Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University.
I wish to express my gratitude to Dr. Alexei Pavlov, who has proven to be an exceptional teacher. His approachability, coupled with his ability to simplify complex linguistic concepts, has greatly facilitated our learning experience. I have particularly benefited from the supplementary textbook pages and lesson videos provided after each session, allowing for effective revision.
However, I would like to bring two matters to your attention for consideration:
1. The video materials shared by Dr. Alexei Pavlov are invaluable for revision purposes. Nevertheless, their limited accessibility for 30 days post-lesson poses a challenge if you want to watch it after 30 days. I kindly request that these videos remain accessible beyond the stipulated period.
2. Dr. Alexei Pavlov does provide us with the textbook pages, I think because the textbook is not available yet. However, to enhance the learning process, I propose the inclusion of the actual textbook as part of our study materials even if it is in a pdf format. Having a structured textbook would greatly contribute to our understanding and practice.
Despite these minor suggestions, I want to emphasize that my learning journey under Dr. Alexei Pavlov's guidance has been incredibly enriching, and I am grateful for the invaluable Russian language lessons provided for free.
Thank you for providing me with this opportunity.
Before I answer your questions I first want to say thank you for this opportunity granted to me for studying at your prestigious institution.
I have visited your country several times in the past and met my wife in Moscow. She was there for a summer camp and we met by chance. The problem we had was that we couldn’t speak to each other because of the language barrier. We both agreed to learn each other’s language and have made great efforts towards that.
My reason for studying is twofold. First, I want to speak to my wife and her family in her own language. For me it is all about respect. They gave their daughter in my care and it is my duty to look after her. Secondly, we want to move to Russia. I fell in love with the country and its people. I want my wife to be close to her family and to be able to work again. She is a teacher for children with autism. I will also like to work in your country. I have worked in the Mining and Exploration industry for almost 20 years as a Geological Technician. I also have experiences in other fields of work. For me it is important to be able to communicate with the citizens of Russia if I want to work and stay there.
Now about the course. I have only praise and respect for Professor Pavlov who is doing an incredible job in teaching us. He listens to our questions and interacts with us constantly. He has the ability to explain subject matter in a way that everyone understands and he never forgets anything.
I understand that economical issues is making some things difficult. We have to study through Skype as other well known platforms have closed their services to your country. It makes our course challenging but doable.
If I can suggest an improvement it would be that the lesson materials be more available to us. I would like to purchase the text and work books that we are using. It would make our lessons easier to have the materials at hand.
I have no complaints further. I enjoy the course and hope to live up to the expectations set for myself.
Once again I thank you for this opportunity. I hope and work hard to write our next interaction in Russian.
My name is Constance Poppie Mosehla. I am an entrepreneur/ a business woman. I participate in the programme because it’s helping me gain knowledge and understanding of the language which plays a vital role in my business dealings. I am grateful to be able to study the Russian language, this is an opportunity of a lifetime for me.
I do business in Istanbul and some of my suppliers and their workers are from Russia. Learning the language has enabled me to speak basic words and I am able to negotiate better prices because I am able to express myself better when interacting with my suppliers.
The Russian language is not the easiest but with daily practice and the help of our teacher it becomes more enjoyable and interesting.
It is a lot of work when one is working and has a family because time is not enough but where there is a will, there is a way. I wish I had plenty of time to give the programme my full attention but I believe that I will make it successfully.
I am enjoying every lesson although at times I am unable to attend because of work. My business trades for 16 hours each day of the year so I sometimes work late shifts which clash with the classes and I am not able to fully participate but I am doing my best to make things work.
The course is very helpful for me. My suppliers are impressed that I can actually speak Russian language a bit even though I am not fluent yet. I believe that soon I will speak better.
The programme is accommodative to everyone hence even I with my right schedule I can still enjoy learning this beautiful language.
I am grateful for this opportunity.
Regarding my comment, let me first tell you that we started learning Russian a few months ago and it is important to tell you two things:
namely alphabets and grammar.
for alphabet:
It's the first thing you see and it's scary.
The same as Chinese and Turkish. Except that when we are interested, we realize that fear is not justified.
Next, grammar, where we find many concepts completely unknown to most French speakers.
Grammatical cases and types of verbs.
To be honest, thanks to my two outstanding teachers DARIA and ANASTASIA, generous and courteous, I acquired the skills of the alphabet, grammar, oral communication, writing and especially reading.
Finally, as with any language, vocabulary grows with practice.
Russian, in my opinion, is simpler than French, with fewer rules and simple conjugations.
Initially, motivated by the prospect of my future studies in Russia, my initiation into the Russian language began in June 2023. Assimilating the Cyrillic alphabet and syntactic constructions at the outset was a bit more challenging than I had imagined. However, thanks to the expertise and skill of my instructors, Дария and Анастасия, this complexity gradually diminished, making my initiation into the Russian language easier. Presently, I am capable of deciphering and composing sentences in Russian, as well as understanding and translating conversations in this language. Nevertheless, we face obstacles during study sessions. Indeed, the poor quality of internet connection and our university study schedules here in Niger prove to be our main challenge. Mastering the Russian language is invaluable to me as I aspire to continue my studies and possibly pursue a career in Russia. Additionally, Russian culture is one of the cultures I would like to explore. Hence, it is imperative for me to master it.
The reason I joined the course dates to 2018. During the World Cup in Russia, I loved how neatly designed the stadiums were, however I also wanted to learn how to read the writing on the walls of the stadiums. I am also a linguist in the making.
Our lessons are enjoyable, and all thanks to our teacher, Mr. Pavlov. He accentuates where appropriate, and yet is a humorous, outgoing person with a demand for perfection. He is patient with his students. Given what has been stated, I have no reason to complain, and I see no reason to do so in the future. I would advise you not to change the teacher. It is thanks to him that I can understand and speak a little Russian. I rate the course a 10/10.
My name is Joseph Munuhe from Nyeri County, Kenya.
I would not know even where to start in regards to this new challenge that I have started of learning <русский язык>.
As a 46 year old man, I believe the saying "it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks." But I decided to take it upon myself to learn a new language and then it happened there was an advertisement in regards to learning Russian. I have always been fascinated in learning a different culture and non African for that matter.
I have always wanted to learn about Russian culture since my younger days and I love the people even though I have never interacted with them.
This is a first opportunity and am loving every moment and I hope to go on.
It was hard at first especially spelling and pronunciation, I go through my first ypoк and I can't believe how far I have come personally.
I take time at night to go through websites to learn about Russian culture and especially Санкт-Петербург. I have found it very interesting. And I would want to visit one day or even relocate there in the long run and live in a farm.
I want to thank Санкт-Петербург University for what they have offered us and Russia as a country for this opportunity.
And as the saying goes I want to save the best for last:
My lecturer Мария, I admire her and she is the perfect lecturer and teacher. She is patient and professional in all that she does, did I say she is patient, I can't emphasis that enough. I have so many things to say about her but I can only say thank you Мария. I hope to meet her one day and just shake her hand.
In conclusion thank you all. I hope to carry on to where I will reach.
Спасибо, Санкт-Петербург и Мария
For a very long time, I have always been fascinated by the Russian language. Whenever I watched Russian movies and listened to the accent, it always sounded so thrilling. I am also a huge fan of president Vladimir Putin and I have always watched his interviews and press conferences. It is from him that I learnt my first Russian word “нет”.
Just imagine my surprise, when while scrolling through twitter(X), I see an update by the Посольство России в Кении that they will be offering a free tutored course in partnership with Санкт-Петербург Университет. It was so soooo unbelievable but I knew that my chance had come. I am grateful for being offered this opportunity. So far, I am really enjoying the course. Ideally, a teacher can make one love or hate a course. Мария Жукова has succeeded in making me love the language even more. Her patience to redo a unit as many times as we need is commendable. Not to mention her willingness to go further and assist us individually. For example, I can always ask her to suggest some material to understand a certain concept and she will always respond to me with the resources immediately. Whenever the going gets tough and I feel like giving up, she is always among the strong reasons that convinces me to continue. In terms of the language itself, it is quite challenging and very different from the English language. I wish my expressions had been captured the first time I learnt that «B» is pronounced as «V», «p» as «r», «H» as «N», «y» as «u» etc quite priceless. After spending like 20 minutes trying to write my имя I doubted if I would ever understand it all. The rules are also really interesting, from он она оно, to the plural and accusative forms. Regardless, I came to quickly realize that with practice it is actually quite understandable. One just needs to study something each day and keep on writing, writing and writing some more. In conclusion, my experience for the past two months has been quite enjoyable. Today, I have written my paragraphs in English. I look forward to our final feedback where I will write in Russian like a native.
Спасибо
I am Idriss Mouchili, of Cameroon origin and currently residing in South Africa. I was introduced to the Russian course by a colleague and good friend of mine, who got to know about the initiative offered online to South African residents and probably to other parts of the world. I learnt about Russia history in my high school years and have always been fascinated by the culture, the vastness of the land mass, the spatial technology, the military might of the country, from the time of the Tsar empire to Soviet Union and now the Russia Republic. I believe the balance approach of Russia policy in the world affairs is appealing to the Global South. My interest is ultimately to attain Russian proficiency and be able to have a business conversation. I would like to develop possibilities for business exchanges with Russian companies, which are seeking to develop their operations and trade (sell/buy products) with Africa. What I like The lecturer approach is participative and allow learners to express themselves, to form sentences, to write and to read. This is followed by homework that has to be submitted few days later What can be changed The pace of the lecture is a little bit fast for first time learners and probably those who are working. A suggestion could be to have one revision class for every four classes. This statement is made while acknowledging that the curriculum is fair and has probably be tested. I am very much appreciative of this initiative and hope that it continues to have the support of the University of Saint Petersburg.
I enrolled to study it because of the following reasons;
1. I love Russia so much; the culture, the people, resilience and the independence.
2. I like how Russia managed their disasters. I’m from Disaster Management and I’m so passionate about it. I always compare the response of a lot of countries. Having researched the Russia’s disaster management in detail, I have been attracted to its strong track record of achievements and the values thereof.
3. I love languages and Russia is one of my bucket list language to learn. I’m grateful to have the opportunity.
4. Russia has more opportunities in terms of disaster and emergency management so it would be great to move to Russia for career growth and personal development.
The experience has been so wonderful, Professor has been so kind to us. He is encouraging and open to each one of us. We have been able to communicate with him through the week even on the days that there are no classes- and he would respond as soon as possible. However, on my side – I have encountered a lot of health challenges due to heatwaves – and still he has been like an encouraging friend/buddy to me. I just like how he makes us feel. He makes our class fun yet educative. I love his humility and his jokes too. Thank you so much for the opportunity to meet Prof Pavlov.
I would like to express my gratitude for your lessons. The course is undeniably interesting and engaging and I appreciate the effort you have gone into teaching us the language and to help us speak like natives.
The learning materials and video lessons bring an immersive experience and are also fun. For me, the course is proving to be a considerable challenge as the timing conflicts with my job and sometimes I am unable to attend classes. Although the recorded videos do bring me up to speed and allow me to catch up with the lesson missed.
I intend to pursue the course to its end, although it is a bit difficult, I feel a passion to master the language thoroughly.
Thank you once again for the lessons and to your University for giving me a chance to learn.
I am thoroughly enjoying the Russian language course, progressing from the fundamentals like the alphabet to more complex aspects such as plural and singular forms, cases, and grammar rules. The structured approach helps me build a solid foundation, making learning engaging and manageable. The gradual introduction of concepts allows me to grasp each topic effectively. Overall, it’s been a rewarding experience that has enhanced my understanding of the language, and I look forward to advancing further.
Personally this course is helping learn not just the Russian language but also get an overview of the culture and the people. In so many ways I associate with the culture and what the people there believe in and for me this course helps me bridge the communication gap that is there to exclusive indulge in the Russian ecosystem. I'm totally happy to study and continue learning Russian language. Thank you for making this course available for us.
I really do appreciate the course. The Russian language is something that I was seeking for since long time, so this is a great opportunity for me to learn it. I'm trying to manage my teaching and research activities to attend the session. The way you're doing the training is really fantastic, especially with your amazing patience with us. You accepted us despite our level. And we're sure that we're learning. I think that if there's change needs, it should be from us in order to positively progress. For our next program I think we will make much effort to not disappoint you, if our mark will allows us continue... And please continue in this way teaching.
I am Youssouf, third year undergraduate student (L3) in Computer Science - Software Engineering.
I am very happy with the way the course is delivered to you, in any case it makes us happy.
My objective of learning the Russian language is that initially I like the Russian language and I want to continue my studies (Master....) there more precisely in your university.
I would not end without thanking in particular our dear teacher and in general the university for their efforts.
Firstly, I started to study Russian language in March 2022. I am studying this course as I am preparing for my future studies in Russia.
At first it was very difficult to understand the Russian alphabet and phrases. But my lecturer, Professor Михаил Довголюк makes our study easy. He makes me understand the Russian language easily.
Now I am able to read and to write Russian phrases. I am able to hear when other people talk to me in Russian and to translate.
However, we are facing some challenges when attending lessons. Here in Zimbabwe we have poor internet connectivity and electricity. That is the main challenge to me.
This course will help me to communicate with Russian people as it is a native language in Russia.
It was my first time to ever learn a foreign language aside of English. The importance of gender in the Russian language appears to be at the centre stage, and there are so many rules to follow in the form of cases. This makes the language so challenging and confusing at first, and it requires a lot of practice and concentration on the part of students. To be honest, I am really enjoying the challenge. It is a unique one and a very special one, since this is never the case in English and my native Ndebele language. I would also like to extend my gratitude to sir Mikhail for the patience he have had with us. We have serious electricity problems in our country that had made the majority of us to at times submit assignments late or attend lectures very late. In spite of all this, Mikhail has tried his level best, and here we are approaching the final stages of the A1 course. Thank you so much, I really appreciate
The Russian course is definitely what we needed to learn the language. It's very smooth and the approach used by the teacher is very friendly and makes it easier for us to understand. The assignments also help us to catch up with the language. We now able to listen, write and of course speaking with minimum difficulties.
My feedback on the lessons for the past months it's been quite good experience. Taking this course made me to able to challenge myself on my learning skills and also it has helped me to progress not in just talking the language but critical thinking as well. There is so much to grasp but for now I’m delighted to have chosen to partake in this learning journey.
I happily write this short paragraph to express my gratitude towards the University of St. Petersburg (Russia) for giving me this opportunity to study Russian language.
This course has helped me appreciate the fact that Russian language is a beautiful and interesting language that can actually be understood. Special thanks to Professor Михаил Довголюк and his colleagues (Алина Галюк and Мария Громакова) who guided everyone with love and care throughout this interesting A1 level journey. The good experiences that we shared with our teachers actually gave us a good picture of the Russian people as opposed to the falsified images that we had before this course. Personally, I feel very proud of being one of the very few Zimbabweans who can now have a basic conversation in this beautiful language and I hope that more people are yet to be aware of this lifetime opportunity and utilize it. I am prepared to continue learning Русский язык until fluency.
Большое cпасибо.
To be honest when we first began I had no idea what I was getting myself into, it has certainly been an interesting journey! I am grateful for this opportunity to learn another language and what I enjoy most about this course is how cultural aspects are blended in together with the theory so that you are not only learning how to read, write and speak Russian but also about the people as well as their history and culture. I also appreciate the mode of teaching which allows room to be taught by a native in an actual classroom setting including the textbook and resource materials. It is such an intensive course and I have had challenges attending lectures due to other commitments; however being able to review previous lessons ensured that I was not far behind for long. My deepest gratitude to St Petersburg University for a wonderful experience and I hope I do well in order to continue and become fluent!
Спасибо!
The Russian course has had its advantages and disadvantages. I have enjoyed learning a different language with different constructions. I have also learnt to write in a way different from what I was used to. However, there is a lot to cover in very little time. There is also a lot of homework which means there is very little or no time to study and master the concepts. The teachers have been patient most of the time and have made me able to speak Russian. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn the language.
It is a great pleasure to be given this opportunity to learn Russian language. Throughout our lessons I have been faced with many challenges which include time management on my part, the challenge of having reliable internet connection, electricity load shading and the challenge of trying to understand and master this new language which is hard. Despite all the challenges our lecturer has been very patient and diligent with us and she is trying by all means to assist us to get to know the Russian language. Her attendance is 100% and she is always on time for lessons. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our lecturer for her dedication and effort that she puts on her work. Thank you so much Natalia please remain the same for all other students that you teach and may God bless you.
Despite all the challenges I am progressing on mastering the language and I hope by the end of the course I will be able to write, read and communicate using Russian language. And I would recommend that in order for some new learners to be able to master the language there is need for more time.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank your reputable University for affording us this chance of learning Russian Language.
Спасибо!! Это хорошо!
My name is Sekai Masaraure. I live in Zimbabwe and I am an online student at St Petersburg University and currently studying Russian language and about to write my A1 level exams. I would like to appreciate my lecturers for the good job they have done till at this stage especially Alexei Pavlov whom we have at this level. He so patient, the lessons are interesting and useful, and so understandable. He is very professional in the way he delivers his lessons and I have no doubt that we will pass our exams.
Thank you.
The language is so interesting, the teacher encourages every student to participate during lessons. There is good interaction and the teacher also allows independent thinking.
However I feel the content is too much for beginners. The fact that one has to learn the language, new vocabulary and spellings. Also the course is currently being taken by university staff and students who are already enrolled in other full-time degree programs. The time is short as the learners have other duties and this puts too much pressure on them. Maybe the course can be offered as part-time over a longer time frame say 12-18 months or during vacation when there is less pressure
The Russian course, as for me I see it as an opportunity and anchor for development in our ever changing world. It is great for me because it is being offered for free, who wouldn't want such a chance like that?It has also showed me that it's not about just learning the language but it's an introduction to other people's cultures which aids in the development of relationships between the two thereby producing conducive environments for business and also employment creation. I see this course as a career path one could take. The time table of the course is flexible and anyone can do it even if they have work.
The provision of the materials for using was awesome and even the deliveries of the lectures, thanks to the teachers.
But also the above cannot be achieved without a great and loving teachers as students will be learning new things for the first time. I would like to appreciate the love and dedication our teachers (Alina and Mikhail) had for us since from the start.

I am writing to thank you for your generous Scholarship you offered to us since last year. It was an honor to be chosen for the Russian Language Course. I enjoyed and still enjoying my online lessons from day one. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge my lecturer Polina, she was the best in every sense. She was patient with me since it was my first time learning the language, when she introduced us to the alphabet that was the most frightening part of the course I thought I would never read or understand a letter but she made the learning process fun and informative. My current lecturer Alexi hats off, he is a real definition of a funny, good and best lecturer. He has been guiding us from the day he took over making his whole learning process fun and informative. I currently work in the Hospitality Industry and since the beginning of the year I was able to communicate with Russian tourists which visit the country, I find this very interesting applying the knowledge I get from my lessons into the real world experience and the way they respond to me like an African black lady speaking Russian is just amazing. By this it makes me want to understand, speak and learn the language even more. Therefore, I personally would be so happy if we prolong our course.
We were informed that by the end of this month we are writing our A1 exams but due to the limited days that we get to learn the language I would like to ask for an extension so that I polish up on the topics I find a bit challenging. Writing exams in November will be much appreciated.
I hope you will consider our plea.
Меня зовут Флоренс. Я из Зимбабве. Я изучаю русский язык.
I would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity to learn the Russian Language through your institution. It was indeed an honour to be selected for the programme and this has heightened our thirst to learn more and sharpen our Russian Language skills. I have really enjoyed the lessons from last year where we had Elena as our lecturer and she helped to learn the alphabet, the cursive style of writing and the Russian sounds and pronunciation. The immersive style of teaching has put us under pressure to want to learn more and understand on our own. As we are going deeper into Russian grammar and vocabulary, Alexei is helping us to grasp the language with a lot of humour making the whole learning experience enjoyable and something to always look forward to. I would like to continue learning until I am fluent.
Thank you once again for this opportunity.
My name is Tatenda Sharon Dube. I'm 26 years old and I have just graduated to become a doctor. I'm Zimbabwean and my hometown is Kwekwe.
The reason I joined Russian language lessons was because it's my dream to go to Russia to pursue my Masters degree. I started learning the Russian language from Teacher Daria before my class was merged with the one taught by Teacher Kristina. Both teachers are kind and are very good at teaching in a way that is easy to understand. I especially appreciate the open communication between the teachers and us students which enables us to ask whenever we feel lost.
We have studied a lot of basic russian including plurals, gender of nouns and so forth. Recently we've been learning about verbs and how to write grammatically correct sentences using the verbs.
I enjoyed watching videos of Saint Petersburg and Moscow during the winter. The cities are very beautiful. I hope I can get the chance to go to Russia to further my studies in the future.
I have been studying Russian for almost two months now. I enjoy every bit of it and can't wait to get my A1 certificate. Kudos to Daria and Kristina for making learning easier and fun and for their patience. Russian as a language is not easy but once you start learning it you're hooked. The one thing that sets the language apart is the gender factor, some words are regarded feminine while others are masculine (female and male nouns and pronouns). I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to learn a new language for one reason or another, I promise it's worth it.
Greetings and salutations and utmost gratitude to the President of Russia Mr Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia for this great opportunity.
Most appreciation goes to Mr Pavlov Alexei who has shown unwaivering commitment and dedication in taking his time and effort to impart the Russian language course to I. The lessons are enjoyable and on the contrary on my part I frequently experience power cuts especially in lessons days which in turn affects the internet thus impeding my learning process. At times I fail to write my homework as well as do further research in preparation for next lessons. Internet tarrifs here are marginally high and at times cannot afford to attend regularly as I am not working.
Lastly I feel there is need for me as an individual, for some lecturers to be based in Zimbabwe to give the feel of Russian language.
The above is part of my personal view and your efforts to teach me the Russian language are highly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
My name is Katerina Kratsolis. I attend the online courses of the Russian language in order to take the exams for Level A1 in May 2022.
My opinion about the courses is the following:
Library: there is big variety of textbooks to look up besides our main textbook
Teacher: Mrs Zara is an excellent teacher with zeal and eagerness to pass through her knowlegde. She puts so much effort to make us understand the logic of the Russian language and also the way Russian people think. She never stops trying to explain and answer to all our questions. Her lesson is a joy to attend and I am feeling very lucky to have her as my teacher.
Thank you for giving me the great opportunity to come closer to the Russian peoples.
I'm thankful that I got this rare opportunity to learn the Russian Language and am even more grateful to Zara for her patience and excellent work with us. I pray that our classes will not be stopped since some dropped out. It's difficult to balance a demanding study program with work and family life, it's not easy for all of us but some of us have chosen to remain until completion and probably get to the next level.
The online library is very helpful and Zara guides us in making the best of it.
I write this email in appreciation to the online language course in which Professor Alexei is delivering to us. Since day one, I have been excited not to miss his Tuesday and Friday classes.
It is my first time to be taught by a university professor and the professor has removed the perception that professors are nuts who are unreasonable and always frustrating students.
I hope I will finish the course and be able to fluently speak Russian by the end of the course. So far I haven't had problems in the way the classes are conducted.
Спасибо большое!
My name is Tinashe Harold Chikanda. I am currently undertaking the Online Russian Lessons at the A0 Level with Zara.
It's a really intensive course and we have done so much. I am really enjoying what we are learning. I am looking forward to completing our first book and maybe writing my first exam hopefully next year. We started off with a few students but I was quite difficult forth erect to catch up as some has issues with internet connectivity, which was very unfortunate.
Zara is a good teacher who really gives her all to make sure we understand what we are learning as well as motivating us to be better students. I am very grateful to have her as my teacher.
Hopefully by the next time I write this similar message I will be writing it in Russian :)
